QANTAS Club (Lounge) Membership

Description

Qantas Club membership.

What is allowable?

The cost of membership to the Qantas Club (two-year memberships only).

The cost of membership to other airline lounges is excluded.

Taxation issues / status

Covered under section 58Y of the Fringe Benefits Tax Assessment Act 1986.

Substantiation Documentation

No declaration of business/private use is required under section 58Y.

Form of Payment

The financial benefit to the employee is a reduction in their fortnightly PAYG tax.

The employee will have the membership fee deducted from one pay and the University will forward that fee to Qantas.

Package Cost

The cost of the membership (currently $187.00 joining fee + $325.00 for a two year membership, a total of $512.00) This may vary, plus a one off administrative fee of $10 to cover the additional work required in the administration. The administration fee will be treated as a salary sacrifice expense and deducted from the employee?s pre tax pay.

How to Apply

The employee completes a 'Corporate Membership (Individual)' form, available from Mike Brown, Remuneration and Benefits.
