Definition of Employment Type
The different types of employment available at The University of Melbourne are as follows:
- Full Time
- Employment for the full weekly ordinary hours (36.25 hours per week)
- part Time
- Employment to work a fixed number of hours per week, which is less than the ordinary weekly hours of a full time staff member in the same classification
- Continuing
- Ongoing employment with no fixed end date
- Fixed Term
- Employment for a specified contract term
- Casual
- Employment where a person is engaged by the hour and paid on an hourly basis
