Career Development
Career planning and development activities provide employees with assistance to develop realistic career goals and strategies to realise them. Individuals are best placed to develop their own action plan to achieve a particular career objective, as only the individual can answer these key questions:- What is important to me?
- How hard am I prepared to work?
- Am I prepared to undertake further study?
- Am I prepared to make the necessary sacrifices to achieve my career goals?
While support is available from supervisors, ultimate responsibility for career management rests with the individual. This process does not happen automatically, and a conscious effort on the part of the employee is vital to ensure a successful career plan.
