Management and Leadership Coaching
Management and leadership coaching offers the opportunity for senior staff to enhance their skills and knowledge in specific areas where they may have limited experience, or when they are faced with a particularly challenging issue or situation. Coaching services are confidential, and are targeted at HEW8, 9 and 10, executive general staff and academic Level D and E staff who have leadership and management responsibilities.
Another personalised development option is SPECTRUM, a 360 degree feedback program developed for managers at the University of Melbourne. Online questionnaires seek feedback from the manager‚s supervisor, peers or clients and direct staff in relation to a range of competencies. The program includes a briefing and debriefing with an external consultant.
Consultancies
Managers are regularly confronted with the need to develop and implement new initiatives, as well as facing a range of other challenges that are difficult to address alone. Many people and work units across the University have successfully used external consultants to support them in this work. Examples include:
- Strategic and operational planning
- Managing change
- Team-building
- Facilitation of staff retreats
- Succession planning
