Welcome to the 2008 Calendar of Programs

For the University to build on its success of Growing Esteem it must harness the expertise of its people within, and build on their capabilities. The 2008 development program will focus on enhancing the capability of our professional and academic staff to lead change and work in new ways of collaboration.

This directory details the programs, courses, forums and other services available to support individual and team development across the University in a time of considerable change. In supporting the implementation of Growing Esteem in 2008, the Organisational Development Unit (OD) will focus on the following initiatives:

Supporting managers and staff in dealing with changing circumstances

In 2008, additional development initiatives will be added to the existing change programs to provide greater support for individuals and groups to handle the various types of change being experienced in the University. Our change-oriented workshops directly support individuals and teams. Forums and conferences aim to engage specific groups in the strategic agenda. Our partnerships with external facilitators, coaches and career counsellors provide a broad range of developmental options for work units.

Building organisational leadership and management capability

Our integrated suite of programs and courses for both academic and professional staff builds leadership capabilities: leading change, shaping strategic thinking, achieving results, cultivating collaborative working relationships, developing personal effectiveness, communicating with influence, and managing and developing others.

Reinforcing commitment to performance development

The Performance Development Framework (PDF) supports a University performance culture of collaboration and change. Our PDF workshops provide opportunities for individuals and teams to focus on performance discussions and to review the implementation of the PDF in local areas. PDF tools help clarify work goals & outputs, development activities and the facilitation of career progression.

Supporting Faculties and Divisions to meet specific business outcomes

Our strategy recognises that the needs of faculties, divisions and work units are best addressed at the local level. We seek to support managers, via internal consultancies, though problem solving, the engagement of external consultants, and the implementation of learning or development solutions.

The OD Unit is dedicated to providing high quality and relevant programs and services to the members of our University community. Join with us in your learning and development experience. Together, we can continue to grow and meet the challenges of Growing Esteem in this vibrant and dynamic University environment.
