The Gerry Barretto Awards

All Staff

Provide for up to two awards annually to professional staff of the University of Melbourne. The awards, each offering a grant of up to $12,500, recognise outstanding performance by professional staff who contribute to creating a high quality student experience. The awards have the key objectives of enabling staff to further develop their expertise and to pass on what they have learned for the benefit of the University.

The Patricia Grimshaw Mentor Excellence Awards

All Staff

Designed to encourage, recognise and reward excellence in academic and professional staff mentoring relationships at the University of Melbourne. Up to two awards will be presented annually, one to an academic staff member and one to a professional staff member. Each recipient will receive an award of $10,000.  Winners may use the grant to support any project related to their professional development or academic work.

Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Contribution (Professional staff)

Professional staff employed on continuing or fixed term contracts may be nominated.

Both individuals and teams may be nominated.

Awarded annually by the Vice-Chancellor to recognise exceptional contributions made by professional staff members.

Recipients of awards will be invited to a celebration where they will be presented with their awards and recognised for their achievements.

Universitas 21 (U21) Scholarships

Professional Staff
HEW 8 - 10

Awarded annually to recognise outstanding performance and provide development opportunities for professional staff. The program aims to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and strengthen administrative links with other U21 institutions.

Bronwyn Jane Adams Memorial Award

Professional Staff. This award is offered in two categories, for HEW 7 and above and for HEW 6 and below.

In memory of Bronwyn Adams, a former professional staff member of the University, the award aims to recognise outstanding performance and potential.

Cornelius Regan Trust

All Staff

The Cornelius Regan Trust Award is for professional development of academic and professional staff. The objective of this award is to provide recognition and assistance to academic and professional staff, by enabling them to pursue a professional development activity in relation to their work.

Awards for Exceptional Service

Bronze medal: Professional staff who have served the University for 25 years or more.

Silver or Gold medal: normally made upon or after retirement.

Awards recognising contributions of long standing staff.

The University encourages faculties and divisions to commence the ‘Awards for Outstanding Contribution’ program at the local level.
